AERIAL CRANE
A helicopter is often considerably cheaper than a normal crane, especially in wide span buildings, enabling highly cost-effective solutions compared to traditional crane work.
The majority of our Aerial Crane operations involve the removal & installation of air conditioners, evaporative coolers and building materials. Some are in one piece and some are modular. With the modular units, we have to position the sections and hold them in place whilst the units are assembled. Some of our achievements include:
- Dismantling several 160 metre tall Pollution Recording Towers piece by piece.
- Placing a work platform and brackets on the rim of the 114 metre tall cooling tower at the Loy Yang Power Station in the Latrobe Valley.
- Carrying 40 tonne of cement into the Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) in the Northern Territory. This valley has sheer rock walls over 200 metres tall and is approximately 20 metres wide. These works were conducted in 40 knot winds blowing throughout the valley.
- Lifting all roofing iron onto the Loy Yang Power Station in the Latrobe Valley and the Taxation Office in Albury.
